Why it matters
Your contribution does not have to be money
TMF runs on a combination of programme staff and a committed volunteer corps. Volunteers are not a backup plan. They are how the work gets done. Every event we have run, every school we have visited, every scholar who has had someone to call when they were stuck — that happened because people with skills and time chose to direct some of both toward a young Nigerian who needed it.
You do not have to be available every week. You do not have to be a technology expert. And you do not have to be in the same city as the students we work with. What you need is something useful to offer and a genuine interest in seeing Nigerian youth get a better shot at the digital economy.

For those who can show up in person to support programme delivery and events.

For professionals, practitioners and members of the diaspora contributing remotely.
- Mentorship, one hour a month with a scholar on their track and their goals
- Guest speaking at TechSpark or scholar sessions, in person or virtually
- Reviewing scholar capstone projects and giving professional feedback
- Sharing job leads, internship opportunities and industry introductions
- Contributing curriculum input in web development, data analytics or cybersecurity
- Research, data analysis or monitoring and evaluation support
- Social media amplification and content engagement
What it actually means
One hour. Real outcomes.
One mentorship call a month means a scholar has someone to call when they are stuck. For many of them, that is something they have never had before.
One afternoon at a school visit means thirty students see a working professional in a technology career for the first time.
One hour reviewing a capstone project means a scholar gets honest feedback that improves their portfolio before a hiring manager ever sees it.
Who is already here
You would be joining something real
TMF's volunteer corps has grown to 23 recruited members, 15 of whom are currently active across programme delivery, event coordination, community mobilisation and operational support. Collectively they have supported multiple TechSpark editions, contributed to school visits across five local government areas, and helped run the scholar community that keeps Cohort 1 connected and progressing.
Scholars Programme graduates return to the corps as peer mentors, going back to the schools they came from, sitting with students who look exactly like them a year ago, and showing them that the pathway is real. That cycle is one of the things we are most proud of.
A note to the diaspora
You left Nigeria. You can still invest in it.
If you are a Nigerian professional abroad, or anyone anywhere who cares about what digital access and structured opportunity could do for young people on this continent, TMF is building something you can be part of without relocating. Remote volunteer roles are real, structured and valued. We will work with you to find the right fit for what you can offer and the time you actually have. You do not need to commit to more than you can sustain.
Development path
How volunteers grow at TMF
- Step 1
Orientation
Induction to TMF's mission, programmes, code of conduct and safeguarding policy, with written acknowledgement of policy terms before deployment.
- Step 2
Role Assignment
Placement in a functional workgroup with clear responsibilities and reporting lines.
- Step 3
Practical Service
Supervised delivery in schools and community settings, supported by experienced team members throughout.
- Step 4
Growth and Leadership
Development of facilitation, communication and project management skills, with progression to lead roles within the corps over time.
