Graduation day group: Scholars Programme graduates, staff and partners

Our Work

Scholars Programme

Three tracks, one expectation: every scholar finishes with work they can show and a next step they can name.

Tracks

Choose the work you want to do

Software Engineering

Web fundamentals through to shipping a working application.

Data & Analytics

SQL, spreadsheets, Python, and the discipline of turning messy Nigerian datasets into decisions.

Cybersecurity

Digital safety, threat awareness and the security practices organisations actually need.

Individual scholars have also worked outside these three tracks, including in product, where their interest and capability pointed that way.

Structure

How the programme runs

  1. 01

    Foundations

Core technical skills, learning habits and regular cohort sessions.

  2. 02

    Applied practice

Track-specific projects, with a mentor assigned to each scholar.

  3. 03

    Workplace readiness

Communication, collaboration, problem-solving and professional conduct, developed alongside the technical work.

  4. 04

    Next step

Portfolio, interview preparation and introductions to placement opportunities.

Scholars progress through these stages at the pace their circumstances allow. Cohort 1 ran without a fixed timetable, and we would rather a scholar finish well than finish on schedule.

How we select

We select through assessment, not application alone

TMF identifies candidates through TechSpark school visits and community events, then selects scholars through a structured assessment covering digital literacy, aptitude and workforce readiness. Selection is based on what we observe, not on how well someone writes a personal statement.

We select for commitment, not for a head start. No prior coding experience is required for any track.

Eligibility

Who we are looking for

  • Nigerian students aged 15–24
  • Able to attend weekly cohort sessions
  • Access to a device and internet for at least six hours a week
  • Demonstrated commitment to completing the programme
